Job summary

LHH US in Grand Rapids seeks an experienced Assistant Controller for an interim assignment to support financial operations, reporting, and month-end close activities.

You will assist with close processes, prepare financial statements, oversee ledgers, and partner with leaders to analyze performance while enforcing internal controls and driving improvements. Strong GAAP knowledge and ERP experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Prior Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Accountant experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills and ERP system experience.
• CPA preferred but not required.
• Ability to quickly adapt and make an immediate impact.

Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements and account reconciliations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Oversee general ledger activities and ensure accounting accuracy.
• Assist with audit preparation and compliance requirements.
• Partner with department leaders to analyze financial performance.
• Identify process improvements and strengthen internal controls.
• Provide leadership and support to accounting staff as needed.
