Job summary

CFS is seeking an experienced Interim Controller in Grand Rapids, MI to provide hands-on accounting leadership. You will own the month-end close, oversee AP/AR, and collaborate with operations and supply chain in a manufacturing setting.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance, 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, and strong ERP skills. CPA or MBA is a plus, with SAP or similar ERP experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ in Controller-level roles.
• Hands-on ERP experience with month-end processing and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage the month-end close process.
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and reports.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Partner with operations and supply chain to support financial performance.
• Collaborate on shipping, inventory, costing, and quoting.
• Oversee inventory accounting, cost accuracy, and reconciliation.
• Analyze results and provide variance and trend insights.
• Develop and maintain accounting reports from ERP data.
• Ensure internal controls are followed and processes are efficient.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and external audit activities.
• Identify opportunities to formalize and improve accounting procedures.

Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday

Our client is seeking an experienced Interim Controller to provide hands‑on accounting leadership and help drive accurate, timely financial reporting. This role will own the month‑end close, oversee AP/AR, and partner closely with operations and supply chain in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage the month-end close process
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and financial reporting
• Provide oversight of accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Partner closely with operations and supply chain to support financial performance
• Work cross-functionally on shipping, inventory, costing, and quoting
• Oversee inventory accounting, including cost accuracy and reconciliation
• Analyze financial results and provide insight into variances and operational trends
• Develop and maintain accounting reports and financial analysis using ERP data
• Ensure accounting processes and internal controls are accurate, efficient, and consistently followed
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and other financial analysis as needed
• Assist with external audit requests and provide supporting documentation
• Identify opportunities to formalize and improve accounting processes and procedures

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or equivalent senior accounting role
• Advanced Excel skills
• Hands‑on ERP experience, including month‑end processing and building reports
• Inventory and cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
