This consultant will play a key role in month-end close activities, reconciliations, process improvements, and government contracting accounting operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• Experience leading accounting teams or similar leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP is required.
• Government contracting experience is required.
• Experience with monthly close and reconciliations is required.
• Hands-on attitude in day-to-day accounting operations.

Responsibilities

• Support the Controller with month-end and year-end close activities.
• Prepare and review account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Assist with maintaining accurate financial records in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Support government contracting accounting requirements and compliance.
• Assist with financial reporting and accounting operations as needed.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across finance and accounting functions.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys digging into the details while helping strengthen financial processes and controls.

• Immediate start required
• Expected duration of 2-3 months
• Primarily on-site in Herndon, VA with some flexibility for 1-2 days remote work once established
• Estimated pay rate:$70-$80/hour

Responsibilities

• Support the Controller with month-end and year-end close activities
• Prepare and review account reconciliations and supporting schedules
• Assist with maintaining accurate financial records in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
• Support government contracting accounting requirements and compliance

Qualifications

• Accounting Manager, or similar accounting leadership experience
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Government contracting experience required
• Experience supporting monthly close and reconciliation processes
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Public company and/or public accounting experience preferred
• Willingness to be highly hands-on in day-to-day accounting operations
