Vaco by Highspring seeks a Strategic Accounting Consultant to support project-based initiatives and interim coverages during peak times at a Controller-level, doing hands-on work to ensure accurate and timely financial statements for client engagements in Charlotte, NC.

Responsibilities include managing financial reporting, close processes, budget support, and technical accounting research on revenue recognition, leases, and stock-based compensation.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; CPA preferred.
• Experience in month-end close and financial reporting.
• Experience in a public accounting firm or consulting services environment preferred.
• Strong technical financial accounting knowledge (GAAP) and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Overall day-to-day management of financial reporting accuracy for client information.
• Balance sheet reconciliations including cash, fixed assets, payroll, and accruals.
• Review and approval of account classifications and G/L accuracy.
• Oversight of AP, AR, payroll, and cost accounting where applicable.
• Technical accounting research on revenue recognition, leases, and stock-based compensation.

OVERVIEW Our client base has ongoing, immediate needs for an Strategic Accounting Consultant to support project-based initiatives and interim coverages during peak times, at a Controller -level skill-set, and always doing hands-on work. Vaco Consultants will be responsible for adhering to accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position will need to work to tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities, including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end client audit projects, and the support of budget and forecast activities.
