Qualifications

• Have completed or be enrolled in a 44-hour, state-approved training course for Assistant Child Care Workers.
• Experience with children preferred.
• Completion of 10 hour approved Infant/Toddler course within 6 months of assuming a position.
• Maintains in-service and continuing education requirements as mandated by State Licensing Regulations.

Responsibilities

• Be sensitive to children's daily and changing needs and stay calm in stressful situations.
• Care for napping, feeding, diapering, toileting as needed.
• Provide warmth and affection to children and respect them as individuals.
• Monitor health and report abnormalities to Lead Teacher.
• Work with children both individually and in groups using developmentally appropriate practices.
• Carry out the Center's philosophy of developmentally appropriate child care.
• Communicate with parents and staff about the needs of children and families.
• Coordinate with seniors and volunteers to maximize contributions to activities.
