U.S. Fleet Forces Command seeks an interdisciplinary meteorologist/oceanographer to join the EXECUTIVE STAFF in the Fleet Numerical Oceanography Meteorology Center. You will help shape long-range environmental modeling strategy and advise on IT configurations to support major initiatives.
You will lead developments in big data assimilation, numerical modeling, and data processing, coordinating with FNMOC, naval labs, and R&D activities. Will require security clearance and travel as needed.
You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY (METEOROLOGIST / OCEANOGRAPHER) in the EXECUTIVE STAFF Department of FLT NUMER OCEANGPHY METEO CTR.
To qualify for the GS-14: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Applicants who qualify on the basis of major study in biology or geology must have had at least 6 semester hours in the major directly concerned with marine science or 6 semester hours in oceanography; applicants who qualify on the basis of other physical sciences or engineering must have had differential and integral calculus and at least 6 semester hours in physics.
There is a prerequisite or corequisite of calculus for course work in atmospheric dynamics and thermodynamics, physics, and differential equations. Calculus courses must be appropriate for a physical science major.
