The position primarily performs engineering functions with regard to installing, operating and maintaining systems and equipment for the Dissolved Oxygen (DO) Injection System, which is part of the Savannah Harbor Navigation Project.
Provides engineering services regarding installed equipment, including, but not limited to vertical turbine pumps, process water piping and valves, variable frequency drives, SCADA controls, debris screens, oxygen generation equipment, motor control centers and electrical switch gear. Reviews engineering drawings and specifications of equipment for installation to determine acceptability for operation in the Dissolved Oxygen facilities. Directs specialized testing to determine necessary adjustments of equipment operations and maintenance practices.
Performs quality assurance oversight of assigned contractor efforts for the DO Injection System. Reviews contractor submittals and ensures that systems are constructed in accordance with contract plans and specifications. Prepares scopes of work, engineering diagrams, and requirements for contract formulation for construction and services contracts. Serves as Contracting Officer’s Representative for the administration of construction and services contracts pertaining to the DO facilities.
Reviews operational data and makes recommendations to improve efficiency of operation of dissolved oxygen systems. Researches and reviews information on installed equipment to find ways to improve plant performance. Reviews field reports to keep up to date on plant conditions.
Through the performance of test work and study of existing systems and schemes, recommends new equipment and modifications, and proper repair procedures to supervisor. Works with service providers to ensure commissioning of new installations and modifications meets specifications for plant operations.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Veterans' preference does not apply to this announcement.

Engineering: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering. The program must: lead to a degree in a school with at least one program accredited by ABET. Degree must be documented on a transcript.
