Job summary

Dimensional Innovations (DI) invites talented students to join its Creative Technology Internship at the Kansas City headquarters in Overland Park, KS. You’ll contribute to real client projects, build interactive prototypes and explore how software communicates with sensors, cameras and lighting in physical spaces.

You’ll work with a mentor, gain hands-on experience across design, development and fabrication, and participate in projects that move from concept to finished experiences this summer.

Qualifications

• Experience building interactive web applications using HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript, either vanilla JavaScript or modern frameworks.
• Familiarity with Git/version control and collaborative coding practices
• An interest in creative technology, interactive experiences, physical computing or emerging technologies
• Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to experiment
• The ability to adapt and "go where needed" in a fast-moving creative environment
• A collaborative, positive and professional approach to working with others
• Comfort trying something new, learning from what doesn't work and trying again
• Strong communication, organization and attention to detail
• Students pursuing Computer Science, Interactive Digital Media, Electrical Engineering or a related field are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to web applications, interactive experiences and prototypes for real DI client projects
• Assist with front-end development using modern technologies, frameworks, tools and workflows
• Explore ways software can interact with physical hardware, including sensors, cameras, displays and LED lighting systems
• Build and test prototypes in DI's technology workshop
• Apply user experience and design principles to interactive experiences
• Use Git and collaborative development practices while working alongside experienced developers
• Participate in project conversations, problem-solving and testing as ideas move toward finished experiences
• Explore emerging technologies and experiment with new ways to connect the digital and physical worlds
