Job summary

Handshake is seeking an experienced intensivist to support AI model evaluation by applying ICU practices and clinical judgment to assess real-time scenarios and ensure patient safety.

This remote, part-time position offers compensation up to $180 per hour with flexible hours and the ability to work at your own pace.

Qualifications

• MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree.
• Residency and fellowship in critical care medicine completed.
• Current medical license to practice in the United States.
• Board certification or eligibility in critical care medicine is a plus.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous environment.
• Excellent written communication and attention to detail.

What You’ll Do

• Use your clinical expertise to create expert-level tasks that today’s top AI models can’t solve, based on real ICU workflows such as rapid assessment of the critically ill, ventilator management, hemodynamic and shock management, sepsis care, point-of-care ultrasound, and treatment planning
• Review and evaluate AI-generated responses for clinical accuracy, patient safety, and alignment with current critical care practice and guidelines
• Provide clear, structured written feedback to help improve AI model performance
• Work remotely and complete tasks at your own pace, with no set schedule or minimum hour requirement

Qualifications

• Degree and clinical training: Completed MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree
• Completed residency training, followed by fellowship training in critical care medicine
• Licensure: Currently licensed to practice medicine in the United States
• Clinical depth: Working knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Medical critical care Surgical and trauma critical care Neurocritical care Cardiac and cardiovascular critical care Respiratory failure, mechanical ventilation, and ECMO Sepsis, shock, and resuscitation Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) in the ICU
• Additional qualifications (not required, but strengthen your application) Board certification or board eligibility in critical care medicine, or additional fellowship training in a subspecialty Experience at an academic medical center or teaching hospital, peer-reviewed publications, or involvement in clinical research or AI-assisted medical tools
• Must have US work authorization
• Strong written communication and attention to detail
• Ability to explain complex critical care concepts clearly
• Ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous environment
