Job summary

Lewiston Public Schools in Lewiston, Maine, is hiring a CLIMB Special Education Teacher for the Intensive Education Program. This full-time role focuses on supporting students with complex learning needs in a multidisciplinary setting attached to a community school.

The educator will assess progress, develop individualized instruction, and foster meaningful social interaction while coordinating with a team of Ed Techs, BHPs, clinicians, and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Current Maine teaching certificate in Special Education (282).
• TCIS certification or willingness to obtain it.
• Criminal history record check required by Maine law.
• Available to work the program calendar, including summers.

Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate students' academic and social growth using standardized and curriculum-based measures.
• Develop lesson plans and provide individualized/small-group instruction.
• Create a learning environment that promotes student independence and data-based decisions.
• Maintain compliance with assessment, progress monitoring, and IEP reporting standards.
• Lead Ed Techs and BHPs, coordinate schedules, and work with a multidisciplinary team.
