Job summary

Pelham School District, in partnership with NECC, is seeking a full-time Instructional Assistant at Pelham Elementary School to support students with intensive special needs. You will assist with instruction and behavior management according to IEPs and collaborate with staff to promote student progress.

Qualifications

• Previous special education experience preferred.
• Interest in working with children in special education.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the safety of all students.
• Provides direct educational services for the duration of the school day.
• Incorporates specific educational objectives into context of ongoing activities.
• Creates opportunities for generalization and maintenance of skills.
• Collects data on targeted skills and enters data into the ACE database.
• Communicates with parents of their primary student via home log.
• Relays parent information to Lead Teacher and NECC Supervisors.
• Maintains student records in a neat and orderly manner.
• Collaborates with general educators and therapy staff for student success.
• Modifies curriculum to assist with student progress.
