Job summary

Needham Public Schools is seeking an energetic Intensive Special Education Instructional Assistant to support students with significant needs at Newman Elementary School in Needham, MA. The role focuses on 1:1 or small group interventions using ABA, behavior plans, and assistive communication supports.

Responsibilities include data collection, preparing instructional materials, and collaboration with the special education team to facilitate student progress and safe, inclusive classroom

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or at least 2 years experience in a similar role (ABA, job coaching, etc)
• Demonstrate aptitude for work to be performed
• Passion for working with children with complex disabilities
• Basic knowledge of child growth and development

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 or small group specialized instruction using ABA strategies
• Implement behavior intervention plans and positive reinforcement
• Support students’ integration in classroom with academic/social/behavioral interventions
• Provide life skills instruction including toileting, self-care, and travel training
• Assist with data collection to monitor progress and support plans
• Prepare instructional materials and assist with home/school communications
• Provide regular feedback to the special education team
• Perform other duties as assigned by coordinators/principals
