Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) seeks a dedicated Intensive Supervision Officer to oversee juvenile intake, probation, and parole cases, focusing on prevention, rehabilitation, and community safety.

Under limited supervision, you will develop supervision plans, assess needs, build community partnerships, and promote restorative justice while ensuring compliance with state laws and DJJ policies. Travel throughout the state may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a social science is required.
• Knowledge of federal/state juvenile laws.
• Ability to organize and maintain a caseload.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the Intensive Supervision Officer for juveniles as assigned.
• Supervises intake, probation and parole cases at moderate or intensive level of supervision according to agency policy and supervision charts.
• Provides a comprehensive screening and assessment of juveniles needs to identify and implement appropriate interventions based on needs and risks.
• Develops community partnerships and resources to meet the needs of the youth.
• Provides alternatives to incarceration through graduated responses while promoting community safety.
• Promotes the use of electronic monitoring, STAP and other graduated responses.
• Promotes job readiness in youth.
• Promotes restorative justice practices to address the repair of harm/compensation to victims and community.
• Maintains case files including JJMS data entry in accordance with agency policy.
• Prepares reports as requested or required.
• Remains familiar with and knowledgeable on all aspects of the case.
• Participates in job related training and workshops for professional growth.
• Performs other related duties as requested or required.
