Job description

ICU RNs provide highly specialized care to patients suffering from serious injuries or illnesses. They monitor patients whose conditions may change rapidly and care for those who are often too ill to care for themselves. ICU RNs work in the ICU unit of a hospital, sometimes called Critical Care, and may be asked to float to PCU or Tele units.

Education / Requirements :

1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN): 4-Year Education
2. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN): 2-Year Education
3. Must earn an ADN or BSN degree and pass the NCLEX to obtain a nursing license.
4. Active state license required to work as an RN.
5. ACLS and CRRT certifications are often required.
6. Willingness to float to ER, MS, and Tele units is expected.
