Job summary

Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of experience in electrical, electronic, and mechanical repair.
  • Strong understanding of low-voltage electrical systems, circuits, wiring, and electronic diagnostics.
  • Experience with transportation technology systems such as AVL, CAD, GPS, APC, cameras, routers, radios, and fare collection systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.
  • Experience using diagnostic software, multimeters, and electronic testing equipment.

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain vehicle electrical and electronic systems.
  • Install, remove, configure, test, and calibrate electronic equipment and communication devices.

Description

Experience/Requirements

  • Technical training in electronics, electrical systems, automotive technology, or a related field preferred.
  • 0-2 years of experience in electrical, electronic, and mechanical repair.
  • Strong understanding of low-voltage electrical systems, circuits, wiring, and electronic diagnostics.

  • Knowledge of transit bus electrical and communication systems preferred.

Position Goal: Ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of fleet technology and electronic systems while supporting transit operations through expert diagnostics, maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of onboard vehicle technology.

Key Accountabilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain vehicle electrical and electronic systems.
  • Install, remove, configure, test, and calibrate electronic equipment and communication devices.
  • Maintain and repair fareboxes, vault boxes, vault receivers, revenue collection systems, and related infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and repair AVL, CAD, GPS, APC, destination sign, camera, radio, router, and tablet systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and system testing on fleet technology equipment.
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, technical manuals, and manufacturer documentation.
  • Identify component failures, defective circuits, communication faults, and wiring issues.
  • Support fleet retrofit programs and technology upgrades.
  • Complete work orders, maintenance records, inspection reports, and parts requests accurately.
  • Utilize diagnostic software and electronic testing equipment to evaluate system performance.
  • Maintain security and accountability of electronic revenue equipment, specialized tools, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with maintenance personnel and operations staff to resolve vehicle technology issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety procedures, DOT regulations, and maintenance standards.

  • Maintenance Employees may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals in a ventilated maintenance shop and may work with personal computers, laptops, electronic hand-held devices, complex electrical schematics, diagnostic software and testing devices, and other heavy machinery.
  • Office Staff may work indoors in air-conditioned or well-ventilated facilities, including offices and cubicle spaces equipped with a telephone and computer and may entail typing or looking at a computer screen.
