Gaude Business and Infrastructure Solutions is looking for an Intellectual Property Attorney to help protect the technology, software, and ideas being developed across our business. With work involving AI, enterprise software, data, and emerging technologies, we need someone who understands that valuable IP isn't limited to patents,it can also live in source code, algorithms, product designs, confidential processes, licensing terms, and the agreements we sign with customers and partners.

This role will work closely with leadership, engineers, product teams, and outside counsel to make sure ownership is clear and important technology is properly protected.

What You'll Handle

• Review new products, software, AI technology, and technical developments to identify intellectual property that may require protection.
• Advise leadership and technical teams on patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, software ownership, and licensing.
• Draft and negotiate IP provisions in customer, vendor, development, partnership, and technology agreements.
• Review software licensing and technology-use agreements before commitments are made.
• Help establish clear ownership of technology created by employees, contractors, consultants, and outside development partners.
• Work with engineering teams to understand new inventions and determine when patent protection should be considered.
• Coordinate patent and trademark filings with outside counsel and keep track of deadlines, renewals, and active matters.
• Review open-source software and third-party technology issues that could affect ownership or commercial use of company products.
• Assist when potential infringement, unauthorized use, or ownership disputes arise.
• Keep the company's IP portfolio and related legal records organized as new products and technology are developed.

What We're Looking For

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active and in good standing with a U.S. state bar.
• Previous intellectual property experience, preferably involving software, AI, SaaS, technology, or other technical businesses.
• Strong understanding of copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, licensing, and technology-related contracts.
• Patent experience or USPTO registration is a strong plus, particularly for candidates supporting patent prosecution.
• Able to work directly with engineers and turn technical discussions into practical legal recommendations.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
• Good judgment when deciding what requires formal protection and what can be handled through contracts or internal controls.
• Comfortable handling confidential product, technical, and business information.
• $135,000 – $185,000 annual salary, depending on experience and technical/IP background.
