Job Responsibilities

1. Gather, collect, and assess intelligence related to security threats.
2. Conduct surveillance of designated groups.
3. Monitor and identify inmates associating with gang members.
4. Interview and photograph all new arrivals.
5. Complete paperwork on inmates suspected of gang activity.
6. Assist contraband staff in searching cells of suspected gang members.
7. Monitor inmate phone calls.
8. Perform any other tasks assigned by the statewide STG coordinator, assistant coordinator, or STG analyst.

Training Requirement

Must successfully complete an eight-week SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma and experience in correctional, security, or police work.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years or older, with a valid driver's license.
• Tattoos must not be offensive, gang-related, or visibly on the face or head; tattoos on the neck will be evaluated case-by-case.
• Cannot have been convicted of a crime with a maximum sentence of one year or more, or a fine of $1,000.
• Must pass a physical exam administered by SCDC.
• Must complete the correctional officer basic certification course within six months of employment.
