Job description

• Gathering, collecting, and assessing intelligence related to security threats.
• Surveillance of designated groups.
• Monitor and identify inmates who are seen associating with gang members.
• Interview and photograph all new arrivals.
• Complete paperwork/packets on inmates who are suspected to be involved in gang activity.
• Assist contraband staff in searching cells of suspected gang members.
• Monitor inmate phone calls.
• Complete all other tasks assigned by the statewide STG, coordinator, assistant statewide coordinator, or STG analyst.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and experience in Correctional, Security or Police work.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).

• Must be a us citizen, age 18 or over, have a high school diploma or GED & have a valid driver's license.

• Tattoos: must not be offensive and/or gang related or visibly located on the face or head. Tattoos on the neck will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

• Cannot have been convicted of a crime with a maximum allowable sentence of one year or more, or a fine of $1,000.

• Must pass a physical exam administered by SCDC.

• Must successfully complete the correctional officer basic certification course within first six (6) months of placement into the position.
