Job summary

Plaid is seeking an Integrations Operations Engineering (IOE) engineer to resolve high-impact integration issues, build new connections, and maintain uptime across Plaid’s financial network. You’ll work at the nexus of engineering, Plaid products, and data partnerships to keep connectivity healthy and scalable.

You will prioritize work by customer impact, review code, and collaborate with data partners to diagnose and resolve complex problems.

Qualifications

• 1.5+ years in a highly technical role, e.g. software engineering, technical support engineering, or similar hands-on technical function.
• Experience developing web services and APIs, or clients/integrations that interface with them.
• Strong troubleshooting/debugging instincts – enjoy investigating complex issues and driving root cause.
• Customer-first attitude and empathy – consider how many customers are affected and how badly.
• Analytical, data-oriented approach to problem-solving – comfortable slicing data to scope impact.
• Excellent written and verbal communication – explain problems clearly to engineers and data partners.
• Familiarity or experience with TypeScript, NodeJS, SQL, or Golang.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve the highest-impact integration issues by writing maintainable, tested code and deploying it to production, then monitor for regression or degradation after changes ship.
• Prioritize by customer impact using a business-value-based model and improve the model over time.
• Escalate to and work directly with Data Partners when source is with the financial institution, driving resolution.
• Apply mitigation techniques to keep integration traffic flowing, via tooling and configuration changes.
• Give and receive code reviews, acting as owners of the integrations codebase.
• Handle escalations from other internal teams with prioritization and expert insight.
• Meet a best-effort SLA on Business-Critical issues.
• Maintain the integrations backlog through triage and auditing, and improve processes and tooling.
• Occasionally build new integrations with a new financial institution or platform when justified.
• Rotate through the team's own integrations on-call to maintain uptime.
