Job summary

AppFolio is seeking an Integrations & AI Architect to tackle complex, cross-system problems across enterprise applications. You will design integrations, APIs, automation, and AI-enabled workflows, turning delivery learnings into reusable patterns.

This role partners with Engineering, Data, Security, Product, and Business teams and drives architectural decisions through hands-on leadership. You will mentor engineers, lead architecture reviews, and shape patterns for reliability, observability,

Qualifications

10+ years across software engineering, integration, or enterprise apps.
Experience designing complex production systems across multiple apps.
Hands-on depth with APIs, integrations, events, data flows.
Strong understanding of synchronous/asynchronous APIs and CI/CD.
Experience with MuleSoft, Workato, AWS or similar platforms.
Mentor engineers and lead architectural discussions.

Responsibilities

Design and build cross-system solutions spanning enterprise apps, APIs, integrations, automation, cloud services, data, and AI.
Translate ambiguous business problems into pragmatic system designs with clear boundaries, APIs, events, schemas, and data flows.
Evaluate tradeoffs across scalability, reliability, security, complexity, and maintainability; balance long-term architecture with near-term delivery.
Build prototypes and POCs to validate approaches, reduce risk, and guide investments.
Work directly with APIs, code, schemas, events, logs, and system behavior to validate designs and guide implementation.
