Job summary

Deloitte is seeking an Integration Engineer II in the Detroit area to design and implement complex integration solutions across cloud and on-premises environments. You will build backend services and RESTful APIs using Python and JavaScript/TypeScript, leverage Azure and enterprise tools, and ensure secure, scalable data exchanges.

You will guide SDLC activities, collaborate with cross-functional teams worldwide, mentor junior staff, and travel up to 50% to support client engagements.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on experience with one or more modern programming languages for building backend services and APIs
• Experience designing and implementing integration solutions across on-prem and cloud environments
• Strong understanding of integration patterns and architectural styles (e.g., hub-and-spoke, ESB, iPaaS)
• Hands-on API design and development including REST, SOAP and/or GraphQL
• Knowledge of API security standards (OAuth2, JWT, SAML, API keys) and best practices for versioning and error handling
• Experience with enterprise integration platforms/tools (e.g., MuleSoft, Apigee, Kong, Workato, BizTalk, Boomi)
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and cloud-native architectures
• Experience SDLC, CI/CD, testing strategies, and multi-environment deployments
• Strong analytical, debugging, and documentation skills
• Ability to mentor junior developers and manage delivery across teams
• Ability to travel up to 50% of time; authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end system architecture spanning frontend, backend, integration layers, and cloud infrastructure
• Define technical standards, integration design patterns, and best practices for the team
• Create architecture diagrams, specifications, and data mapping documentation
• Develop backend services and APIs using Python and JavaScript/TypeScript; work with Azure and integration tools
• Design, build, and integrate RESTful APIs connecting systems for reliable data exchange
• Implement API security, versioning, and error handling; manage SDLC across environments
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide post-deployment support
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize data flows and integration practices
• Take ownership of projects, mentor juniors, and manage stakeholder expectations
• Travel up to 50% as needed for client work
