Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Systems Engineer to serve as a key interface among requirements, design, subsystem engineering, system engineering, and production teams.

You will perform systems integration, test planning, verification, and data reviews, supporting on-site testing and driving build/test efficiency while balancing cost and schedule constraints.

A BS in an engineering discipline and an active security clearance are required to contribute to mission-focused programs at Huntsville.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or related engineering discipline.
  • Active Secret security clearance (last 5 years) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering processes and systems integration functions.
  • Experience with system trade studies, ICD development, and test planning.

Responsibilities

As a Systems Engineer you will serve as a key interface between the requirements, design, subsystem engineering, system engineering, and production teams.

In This Role You Will
  • Perform systems integration, test planning and implementation
  • Coordinate the planning, organizing, control, integration, and completion of Engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility
  • Support test activities on site
  • Perform data reviews and provide feedback to test and integration teams
  • Find opportunities for build flow and test efficiencies

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. For positions that perform IT responsibilities, use E646, Systems Engr-IT.

Basic Qualifications
  • Knowledge or experience of Systems Engineering processes and Systems Integration functions in one or more of the following:
  • System trade studies and/or System modeling
  • Requirements and Interface Control Document (ICD) development
  • System Integration, Test and/or Verification
  • Test planning and implementation with an understanding of all the interdependencies
  • Design reviews
Desired Skills
  • Validated understanding of systems thinking skills and behaviors
  • System design and test experience with one or more subsystems or fields outside of Systems Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Propulsion, RF, Software, etc.)
  • Experience with operations design
  • Ability to absorb extensive technical detail and logically formulate solutions for implementation on an inflexible schedule, often requiring integration of conflicting and, at times, incomplete data
  • Demonstrated experience of good judgment and programmatic implementation vital to meet technical requirements while balancing schedules and budget obligations
  • Ability to operate in a dynamic environment and take on numerous roles as part of the daily program operations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent social skills, with the ability to lead multi‑functional teams, shape meaningful relationships with team members and deliver consensus among peers
  • Demonstrated behaviors of a systems thinker; selects and applies appropriate systems thinking skills to solve very complex problems and implement constructive change
  • Active Secret security clearance with investigation in the last 5 years
  • Bachelor of Science or higher from an accredited college in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
Pay Information

Full‑Time Salary Range: $70500.00 - $130900.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
