Job summary

ROME GROUP is seeking an Illinois-licensed teacher to serve as the Academic & Vocational Integration Instructor for our YouthBuild St. Clair County program. The role delivers high school coursework and integrates construction-related concepts with academic content.

You will teach English/Language Arts, math, science, and technology, while remediation and project-based instruction help students with interrupted education build real-world skills and pursue national construction credentials.

Qualifications

• Current Illinois PEL with an appropriate teaching endorsement (REQUIRED).
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with opportunity youth or related populations.
• Ability to teach across multiple academic subjects.
• Strong classroom management and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach high school coursework including English/Language Arts, mathematics, science, social science, and technology.
• Provide academic remediation in reading, writing, math, and foundational skills.
• Differentiate instruction for diverse academic levels and learning styles.
• Develop creative, hands-on, project-based lessons connecting academics to real-world skills.
• Collaborate with vocational staff to integrate construction concepts into lessons.
• Maintain grades and required program records.
• Monitor progress and adjust instructional approaches as needed.
