Job summary

Lancaster County Government is seeking an Intake Support Specialist to join the Central Intake Unit of Adult Probation and Parole Services. The role involves conducting intake interviews, assessing individuals through the court process, and coordinating with probation officers for caseload assignments.

The position requires a high school diploma (Associates degree preferred) and the ability to pass a criminal background check; frequent interaction with clients, court staff, and service providers

Qualifications

  • Associates degree preferred.
  • Must pass criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Interview newly sentenced or paroled individuals to explain probation and/or parole requirements and processes, ascertain personal data, and obtain agreement to rules.
  • Determine if special conditions are ordered by the Court and facilitate initial referral to the appropriate agency.
  • Enter sentence computations, special condition information, and probation maximum expiration dates into APPS' computer program.
  • Maintain responsibility for cases where clients are under supervision but have not reported for intake; send failure-to-report letters when warranted.
  • Complete transfer packets on clients not living within the county.

Level up your career through a large network and specialty training.If you're passionate about making a difference, apply today to join us in serving the community!Job Description:JOB SUMMARYThis employee is a para-professional working within the Intake Unit of Adult Probation and Parole Services.Work includes a significant degree of contact with probationers, parolees, Court related agencies, treatment providers, and the public.Major responsibilities include conducting an intake interview and/or initial investigation, review and assessment of individuals as they are processed through the court system, assignment of clients to specific caseloads, and making referrals for treatment or special conditions based on the Court Order.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPSThe Intake Support Specialist reports directly to the Supervisor of the Central Intake Unit.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS50% Interview newly sentenced or paroled individuals to explain probation and/or parole requirements and processes, ascertaining personal data about the client and securing clients’ agreement to rules and regulations. Assign clients to specific probation officers based on geographic assignment and/or rotation for city caseload, setting up appointment for client with probation officer and forwarding information to probation officer.15% Determine if special conditions are ordered by the Court and facilitates initial referral to appropriate agency.25% Enter sentence computations, special condition information, and probation maximum expiration dates into APPS' computer program5% Maintain responsibility for cases where clients are under supervision, but have not reported for intake.
