Job summary

Via Linda Behavioral Hospital seeks an Intake Nurse for PRN/Per Diem night shifts in Scottsdale. The RN coordinates admissions, triages referrals, and collaborates with physicians and staff to ensure appropriate level of care.

In this role you will verify insurance and assist with prior authorizations as needed. The position supports a full continuum behavioral health program with opportunities for professional development and competitive benefits for full-time staff, including education

Qualifications

• Current license to practice nursing in Arizona or with compact privileges.
• Preferred one year of experience working in a psychiatric inpatient setting.
• Must have or be able to obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Responsibilities

• Triages patients and coordinates intake assessments.
• Completes nursing admission paperwork and enters calls/admissions in the computer.
• Assists physicians in determining appropriate level of care for admissions.
• Interfaces with hospital staff, referral sources, families, payors, and units for smooth admissions.
• Verifies and, as needed, initiates insurance benefits verification and prior authorization.

Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Intake, the Intake RN is responsible for the timely processing of inquiry/referral calls, coordination of all admissions processes and serves as liaison to referral sources, families, payors, physicians, unit and hospital personnel involved with each admission. The Intake RN duties are (but not limited to) triaging patients, completion of assessments for assisting physician in identification of an appropriate level of care for potential patients, ability to staff clinical effectively, enter calls and admissions in computer and complete nursing admission paperwork with patient. This position interfaces closely with both internal hospital staff, facility physicians, as well as referring hospitals, patients, families, and community referral sources. Effectively communicate with unit staff and assist patient to unit. The Intake RN also at times be responsible for the verification and prior authorization of insurance benefits as needed.

Qualifications
