Job summary

Southridge Behavioral Hospital is seeking an Intake RN to perform telephonic and in-person risk assessments to determine the appropriate level of care for potential patients. You will coordinate referrals, admissions, and maintain open communication with families, patients and unit staff.

You will work with the Business Office on financial data and insurance verification, and with the UR Department for patient certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in a psychiatric health-care facility.
• Registered Nurse license issued by the State of Michigan required.

Responsibilities

Position Description

The Intake RN, under the supervision of the Intake Director, provides telephonic and in‑person risk assessment to assist the physician in identification of appropriate level of care for potential patients. The Intake RN is the initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients, and unit staff. The Intake RN works with the Business Office regarding patient financial data and verification and prior authorization of insurance benefits as needed, as well as with the UR Department for the certification of patients admitted.

Hours and Location

Full Time, 7pm to 7:30am for Night shift. Weekend rotation required.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

Education: Graduate from an accredited professional nursing required.

Experience: A minimum of three years’ experience in a psychiatric health‑care facility preferred.

License: Registered Nurse RN license issued by the State of Michigan required.
