Job summary

Southridge Behavioral Hospital is seeking an Intake RN to perform telephonic and in-person risk assessments to help determine the appropriate level of care for potential patients. The role includes coordinating referrals and admissions, and maintaining communication with referral sources, families, patients, and unit staff.

The Intake RN works with the Business Office on patient financial data, verifies insurance benefits, and collaborates with the UR Department for admissions authorization.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred.
• Registered Nurse license issued by the State of Michigan.

Responsibilities

Position Description

The Intake RN, under the supervision of the Intake Director, provides telephonic and in-person risk assessment to assist the physician in identification of appropriate level of care for potential patients. The Intake RN is the initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients, and unit staff. The Intake RN works with the Business Office regarding patient financial data and verification and prior authorization of insurance benefits as needed, as well as with the UR Department for the certification of patients admitted.

Hours and Location

Part Time, 7am to 7:30pm for Day shift. Weekend rotation required.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

Education: Graduate from an accredited professional nursing required.

Experience: A minimum of three years’ experience in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred.

License: Registered Nurse RN license issued by the State of Michigan required.
