As an Intake Coordinator, you will:

• Respond to incoming calls from referral sources or potential patients, exchange information to identify patient needs, and determine the company’s ability to meet them.
• Record the outcome of calls manually or in an automated system, make follow-up calls as necessary, and identify alternative community service resources when solutions are not available.
• Perform initial telephone screening to determine patients’ suitability for home care services with referral sources. Advise branch staff of patient acceptance and provide all relevant information for a smooth transition to home care.
• Contact referral sources to update on referral status and communicate with the clinical team responsible for delivering services.
• Identify potential payer sources, verify benefits, negotiate rates, and obtain initial authorizations and visit frequencies from case managers. Establish primary payers and document conversations.
• Access account information, including contract details, and communicate relevant information to branch and intake staff. Collaborate with the team and patients to resolve payer issues.
• Monitor and track referral source satisfaction levels and communicate customer service issues to appropriate staff.

Required Experience/Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• At least three years of healthcare delivery or related business experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and customer service skills preferred
• Knowledge of insurance reimbursement processes preferred
• Effective data entry, problem-solving, communication, and human relations skills

Additional Information

• Home or hybrid employees must meet internet speed requirements (minimum 25 Mbps download, 10 Mbps upload). Satellite, cellular, or microwave connections need approval.
• Employees in California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will receive internet expense reimbursements bi-weekly.
• Employees will be provided with necessary telephone equipment and must work from a dedicated space to protect patient information.
