Job summary

Veterans Inc. in Shrewsbury, MA is seeking an Admissions Counselor to support new patients at intake, complete required forms, and gather initial clinical information to enable timely assessments.

You will coordinate handoffs with Admissions and Nursing teams, maintain SOPs, and train staff on workflows, while ensuring compliance and a compassionate, veteran-focused approach. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human services, social work, sociology or related field; master's preferred.
• Certification in alcohol and drug counseling (LADC I/II) preferred.
• 2+ years in substance abuse treatment/mental health settings preferred.
• Experience with veteran populations preferred.
• Must pass CORI/Background check.
• Must comply with the vaccination policy.

Responsibilities

• Conduct day-one intake meetings and gather clinical histories.
• Complete required intake forms, including Admission Notes and BSAS forms.
• Submit clinical justifications like ASAM recommendations.
• Coordinate patient handoffs with Admissions and Nursing teams.
• Assist Admissions with screenings, referrals, and high-volume intake backup.
• Maintain SOPs and train staff on workflows.
