Brentwood Hospital in Shreveport, LA is seeking an Admissions Nurse - RN to join a team dedicated to risk assessment, crisis intervention, and coordinating admissions and referrals for patients and families.

The role requires Louisiana RN licensure, an associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing, and prior intake/admission or crisis experience in a psychiatric setting; weekend and overnight shifts are available.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial medical screening.

• Obtain/document pre-certification on admissions as necessary.
• Basic medical triage: skin check, wounds, etc.

The Registered Nurse Assessment and Referral Counselor provides telephonic and in-person risk assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, determines appropriate level of care, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff.

Qualifications

Education: Associatesor Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Experience: Prior intake, assessment, admission and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferablein an inpatient setting.

Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed to practice by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.

Knowledge: Prefer knowledge of crisis intervention and risk assessment, psychiatric diagnoses symptomatology, basic chemical dependency, age specific growth and development and crisis behavior management.
