Job summary

Hackensack Endoscopy Center in Hackensack, NJ is hiring a full-time Insurance Verifier to join our team. You will verify insurance coverage, contact patients to gather information, and inform them of their financial responsibility before service.

You will review obligations, pre-qualify third-party coverage, and coordinate with materials management to estimate patient responsibility accurately. We expect attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years of experience in Insurance Verification and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Ability to set priorities and to work independently.
• Ability to interact in a positive manner with co-workers, supervisor and other facility employees.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Knowledge of how to access benefits from various sources such as phone, person, websites.
• Ability to interpret benefits in order to convey to patient and to calculate allowable.
• Ability to use discretion in dealing with the public.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate patient benefits and payment options effectively and professionally.
• Ability to calculate allowable and patient responsibility accurately.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance coverage based on information from physician offices at the time of scheduling.
• Contact patients to gather additional information and notify them of financial responsibility.
• Review financial obligation with the patient and authorized party following Surgicare’s program or company policies.
• Pre-qualify third-party coverage of scheduled procedures.
• Coordinate with materials management regarding implants, equipment, and supplies to calculate patient responsibility.
• Calibrate allowable charges and patient responsibility accurately.
