Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years of experience in Insurance Verification and/or training.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Ability to set priorities and to work independently.
• Ability to interact in a positive manner with co-workers, supervisor and other facility employees.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Knowledge of how to access benefits from various sources such as phone, person, websites.
• Ability to interpret benefits in order to convey to patient and to calculate allowable.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Verifies insurance coverage for scheduled procedures at the time of scheduling.
• Contacts patients to gather additional information and notify them of their financial responsibility.
• Pre-qualifies third-party coverage of scheduled procedures.
• Coordinates with materials management regarding implants, equipment, and supplies to calculate allowable patient responsibility.
