Job summary

Bon Secours Surgery Center at Harbour View is seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Verification Clerk to join our Business Office team. This full-time role focuses on accurate verification, eligibility determination, benefits review, and pre-procedure authorizations to support a smooth patient experience.

You will collaborate with physicians, patients, and payers while ensuring HIPAA compliance and precise data entry in our system.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 2 years in insurance verification or related healthcare revenue cycle.
Knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 and payer requirements.
Excellent communication and attention to detail.
Experience with payer portals and direct payer contact.

Responsibilities

Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, deductibles, and coverage for scheduled procedures.
Document patient demographics and insurance information in the practice management system.
Determine required authorizations and referrals for procedures.
Coordinate with physician offices and insurers to obtain approvals prior to services.
Communicate anticipated financial responsibility to patients.
Review EOBs and payer guidelines to ensure correct coverage.
Maintain accurate records of verification activities and communications.
Assist with patient registration and signatures as needed.
Support collection efforts by identifying financial responsibility before surgery.
Collaborate with departments to ensure efficient patient throughput and service.
