Job summary

Mortenson Dental Partners is seeking an Insurance Verification Specialist to verify and document insurance coverage for patients at our Louisville, KY site. You will retrieve insurance details, enter data into Open Dental, and ensure accurate treatment estimates based on benefits.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of insurance experience, strong data entry skills, and familiarity with Open Dental. This full-time role supports a team-oriented culture and a focus on quality patient care.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience with insurance companies and knowledge of different coverage types.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Proficient with computers, telephone, internet, and a virtual fax machine.
• Open Dental knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve insurance breakdown information prior to patient appointments.
• Enter insurance plan information accurately into Open Dental.
• Review and reconcile existing insurance plans to ensure accuracy of coverage.
• Update patient benefit information to ensure correct insurance estimates for treatments.
• Coordinate with practice, third-party vendor, and RCM team.
• Collaborate with practice teams to ensure an exceptional patient experience.
• Perform other duties as needed by supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve insurance breakdown information prior to patient appointments.
• Ensure accurate data entry into Open Dental of the insurance plan information.
• Review existing insurance plans in Open Dental to combine and ensure accuracy of existing dental plans. Correct any errors as necessary.
• Update patient benefit information in the organization's insurance system and verify that existing information is accurate to ensure the patient receives a correct estimate of insurance payments for the treatment being presented.
• Coordinate with the practice, the third-party vendor, and the RCM team.
• Work with assigned practice teams to ensure an exceptional patient experience.
• Various other duties as requested by the supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3 - 5 years of experience working with insurance companies and extensive knowledge of different types of coverage and policies
• Computer, telephone, internet, Virtual fax machine

Preferred

• Associate Degree or Higher
• Open Dental knowledge, Dental insurance verification experience
