Job summary

University of Florida is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator I to lead the campus insurance program, evaluate claims, and coordinate disaster response. The role involves training departments, managing COIs, and ensuring event risk controls.

Requirements include a master’s degree with experience or a bachelor's with several years in risk management; Florida license and a 4-40 license or equivalent within six months are required. Strong communication and independence are needed.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience.
• Knowledge of risk management and insurance concepts relevant to campus operations.
• Experience with FEMA Public Assistance processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of UF Policy Management Program with DRM insurance; prepare premium billing statements and internal UF statements; train departments on insurance coverages and risk topics.
• Promptly evaluate and investigate liability and property damage incidents; collect documents for comprehensive assessment and resolution; assist with mediation or litigation as needed.
• Coordinate with Emergency Management on public assistance grant preparation and disaster claims with FEMA and the State of Florida.
• Ensure compliance with UF event insurance requirements; manage COI requests and training partners on event risk.
• Operate UF/state vehicles to satellite locations to perform risk management duties.
• Maintain valid Florida driver license and 4-40 Customer Service Representative License or obtain within six months; otherwise perform duties accordingly.
