Job description

SUMMARY


Mortenson is currently seeking an Insurance Risk Analyst who will provide analytical support across all areas of Risk Management to various team members within the company. The primary focus of the role is to deliver consistent, high-level analysis of the company's overall risk profile.


RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. Assist in identifying, analyzing, and managing risks faced by Mortenson's operations, and determine the best strategies for risk transfer.
  2. Support estimating and project teams with all insurance and surety operational needs.
  3. Review and negotiate agreements with owners, designers, subcontractors, and material suppliers; support business leaders involved in negotiations.
  4. Evaluate requests for qualifications or proposals to identify and address risk management provisions in bid documents and contracts.
  5. Manage pricing and placement of liability insurance, builder's risk, surety bonds, and subcontractor default insurance.
  6. Provide ongoing risk management support to operational groups.
  7. Collaborate with legal and operational leaders to effectively manage and mitigate risks.
  8. Build and maintain relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.

QUALIFICATIONS


  1. Associate or bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
  2. Minimum of 3 years experience in risk management or the insurance industry.
  3. Effective risk identification, management, and mitigation skills based on risk management principles.
  4. Proficient in mathematics and financial analysis.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional, team-based environment.
  6. Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
  7. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
  8. Positive attitude and professional customer service skills.
  9. Active listening and open, effective communication, including receptiveness to diverse input and feedback.
  10. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  11. Experience in contract reviews and negotiations.
  12. Construction or insurance industry experience preferred.

Salary Range: $77,500 - $116,300, with higher ranges for certain locations (Denver, CO; Chicago, IL; Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Washington, D.C.) based on experience and location.


Position salary is determined by knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity considerations.
