Job summary

Securian Financial is seeking a Director of Regulatory Compliance to lead and evolve the enterprise compliance program. Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, this role shapes how compliance partners with business lines, identifies risks, and enables responsible growth.

The position requires extensive insurance industry expertise, strong leadership, and a proactive, data-driven approach to risk management.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in compliance, risk, legal or regulatory functions.
• Significant experience within the insurance industry.
• 5+ years of leadership experience.
• Experience leading leaders and developing high-performing teams.
• Experience influencing senior leaders and partnering across multiple business areas.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with credibility across partners and compliance professionals.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise regulatory compliance program and a ~20-person team, including sub-team leaders.
• Provide oversight of regulatory compliance activities across life insurance, annuity, securities, complaints, and related monitoring.
• Partner with business lines and operations to identify regulatory risks and develop practical mitigation.
• Evolve operating model; clarify responsibilities, accountabilities and ways of working.
• Advance proactive risk identification, monitoring, and escalation with data-driven insights.
• Translate complex regulatory requirements into practical guidance for informed decisions.
• Anticipate regulatory developments and emerging risks; respond proactively.
• Develop future leaders and organizational capabilities for long-term success.
