Job summary

Western National Insurance is seeking a Product Development Intern to join its team for the Summer 2027 Internship Program in Edina, MN. This role is ideal for students who enjoy analytical problem-solving, working with data, and learning how insurance products are designed, priced, and regulated.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Economics, Finance, Business, Insurance, or related field preferred.
• Interest in learning how insurance products are structured, priced, documented, regulated, and administered.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills and ability to organize and interpret information.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, Word, and related data/tools.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and learn new systems.
• Ability to work onsite at our corporate office in Edina, MN.

Responsibilities

• Assist with compiling, organizing, validating, and analyzing information used in Product Development projects.
• Review and update forms, rates, rules, manuals, reports, templates, and other product materials for accuracy and completion.
• Identify and analyze trends, comparisons, and patterns and summarize findings for the Product Development team.
• Research insurance requirements, market practices, and product information; identify questions and recommend practical solutions.
• Collaborate with Product Development and partners in Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, Compliance, Operations, Technology, and Analytics.
