Preferred Employers Insurance (a Berkley Company) in San Diego offers a structured 2027 Summer Intern program. You will rotate through Underwriting, Claims and Sales/Marketing, shadow teams, and participate in mentor-guided development.

The program includes team meetings, cohort activities, and a final capstone presentation, with opportunities to advance into underwriting or claims roles based on performance and interest.

• Relevant coursework in business, risk management, insurance, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Rotate through Underwriting, Claims, and Sales/Marketing to gain exposure to each function.
• Shadow team members, including broker calls and claim reviews, to understand day-to-day operations across departments.
• Attend and actively participate in team meetings during each rotation.
• Move into a focused Underwriting or Claims assignment based on performance, interests, and business needs.
• Complete meaningful department-specific assignments as directed by management.
• Meet regularly with an assigned mentor for career guidance and with a manager for coaching and performance feedback.
• Participate in intern cohort activities, including weekly huddles, collaborative group projects, and social or volunteer events.
• Contribute to internal communications or social media content under the guidance of the Marketing team, as applicable.
• Prepare and deliver a final capstone presentation summarizing key learnings and contributions.
