Responsibilities

• Perform initial licensing checks on applications and coordinate with Licensing and New Business teams.
• Assist Operations Manager on value-add projects for New Business and Valmark overall.
• Gather information from product companies, clients, and data feeds for policy management.
• Set up policies in the management system, input data points, archive documents.
• Ensure data completeness and accuracy and support service requests from member firms and clients.

The Insurance Operations Intern will support the Life Insurance New Business, Underwriting and Policy Management teams out of Valmark’s St. Paul, MN office.

Job Summary:

The Insurance Operations intern will support the Life Insurance New Business, Underwriting and Policy Management teams out of Valmark’s St. Paul, MN office. The intern will provide administrative support to the New Business team by way of setting up new life insurance applications, and will be responsible for data management, communication with insurance companies, and other operational tasks. The intern will own various internal projects which will lead to increased exposure and knowledge across all Valmark’s business lines and within the entire financial services industry. Above all, the position will help assist all Valmark staff to deliver world class customer service by acting as an advocate on behalf of Valmark’s Member Offices and their clients.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Life New Business and Underwriting:

• Accurately enter all new business into Valmark's proprietary systems so the New Business Team can begin their process
• Complete initial licensing check on life insurance applications to ensure agent is authorized to sell that business, and act as liaison to initiate conversation between Licensing Team and New Business team when an agent doesn’t hold the proper licenses
• Assist the Operations Manager in completing projects that provide value to New Business Team and Valmark as a whole

Policy Management:

• Gather necessary information from various sources including product companies, Valmark’s clients, internal sources, and technology data feeds
• Set-up the policy in the policy management system, input specific data points, archive documents, and manage policy information using various technology tools
• Ensure the completeness and accuracy of new and existing data in the systems
• Obtain supporting information to aide in the review and analysis of in-force policies
• Facilitate the completion of service requests from member firms and clients
