Responsibilities

• Verify patients’ insurance eligibility and coverage using insurance company websites, online portals, and phone calls.
• Confirm active insurance policies, effective dates, copayments, deductibles, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket expenses.
• Review insurance benefits and determine whether referrals or prior authorizations are required.
• Obtain and verify insurance information before scheduled appointments.
• Contact insurance companies to resolve eligibility issues, coverage discrepancies, and inactive policies.
• Update patient insurance information in the electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) system.
• Communicate insurance coverage and estimated patient financial responsibility to patients and front office staff.
• Coordinate with billing, scheduling, and clinical teams to ensure accurate insurance information.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
• Document all insurance verification activities accurately.
