Surgery Partners is seeking an Insurance Verification Specialist to verify patient benefits and maintain good relationships with patients, physicians, and insurers. This role emphasizes accuracy, timely referrals, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will have high school education and healthcare billing/verification experience, with strong data entry, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and 1–2 years of healthcare insurance billing/verification experience.
• Knowledge of CPT/ICD-9 and medical terminology.
• Familiarity with computer systems and spreadsheet programs.
• Experience with insurance verification and authorizations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all records are maintained in absolute integrity and in compliance with regulations.
• Obtain required referrals and authorizations via phone, fax, or online.
• Review daily reports for authorizations and insurance benefit verification needs.
• Obtain retro-authorizations or update existing authorizations promptly.
• Data entry in a fast-paced environment with high accuracy expectations.
• Update patient accounts with insurance verification details.
• Coordinate with patients regarding their insurance benefits.
• Identify deductibles, co-pays, and self-pay accounts.
• Notify staff if treatment or service is denied.
• Re-verify patients monthly for active, current insurance.
• Assist manager and staff with account questions when presented.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
