Job summary

GNY Insurance Companies seeks a paralegal support specialist in New York to assist a team of defense attorneys with discovery, drafting and responding to Bills of Particulars, Notices to Admit and related documents.

You will manage attorney calendars, coordinate EBTs, prepare responses for complex litigation, and conduct legal research to support case strategy. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are essential to maintain client confidentiality and effective insured relations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in insurance personal injury defense litigation support.
• Minimum 2 years handling discovery responses for complex litigation.
• Paralegal certificate or degree preferred.
• Familiarity with NY Electronic Court Filing system required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and related databases; Notary public a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys with information gathering and research for cases.
• Draft and proofread legal documents including complaints and subpoenas.
• Communicate with court officials and opposing counsel.
• Manage attorney calendars and scheduling of EBTs.
• Prepare discovery responses and assistance for attorney review.
• Obtain documents needed for different types of litigation.
• Understand new discovery rules and verifications.
• Help prepare for trial, arbitration and depositions.
• Conduct legal research in publications and databases.
• Participate in special projects and other duties as required.
