Qualifications

• Active Ohio Bar admission in good standing.
• 4+ years of civil litigation experience, with 5+ years especially desirable.
• 2+ years of insurance defense litigation experience.
• Demonstrated experience taking and defending depositions.
• Experience reporting to and working directly with insurance claims adjusters.
• Strong legal writing, research, negotiation, and case management skills.
• Ability to handle litigation matters independently while maintaining strong client relationships.
• Experience in a law firm or in-house legal environment is welcome.

Responsibilities

• Manage insurance defense and civil litigation matters, developing effective case strategies from initial evaluation through resolution.
• Take and defend depositions, including those involving parties, witnesses, and other relevant participants.
• Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery requests, legal memoranda, and other litigation documents.
• Communicate directly with insurance claims adjusters, providing case updates, evaluations, and strategic recommendations.
• Conduct legal research, analyze evidence, and identify practical solutions to complex litigation issues.
• Represent clients during hearings, mediations, settlement negotiations, and other litigation proceedings as appropriate.
• Collaborate with colleagues while independently managing deadlines, case responsibilities, and client expectations.
