Job summary

Confidential Employer on Long Island seeks an experienced associate to handle insurance defense and civil litigation from inception through resolution. You will conduct legal research, draft pleadings, manage discovery, participate in depositions, and develop case strategy in collaboration with senior attorneys.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of litigation experience, including defense matters.
• 1+ year of defense negligence and/or insurance defense experience.
• Active New York bar admission in good standing.
• Experience with discovery, research, and motion practice.
• Strong written and oral communication, analytic and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Handle insurance defense and civil litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, correspondence, reports, and other litigation documents.
• Manage discovery, including document review, written discovery, and discovery-related motions.
• Prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
• Evaluate liability, damages, and litigation risks and assist with developing case strategy.
• Communicate with clients, insurance carriers, claims professionals, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.
• Assist with cases involving negligence, premises liability, motor vehicle accidents, professional malpractice, construction litigation, and related defense matters.
• Maintain accurate case files, deadlines, and reporting requirements.
• Work closely with senior attorneys and the broader legal team to advance matters efficiently and effectively.
