Job summary

Confidential Employer on Long Island seeks an experienced defense-litigation attorney with NY bar admission and 8+ years of experience to manage a sophisticated caseload. The role offers hybrid work, ownership of strategy, and direct client interaction in state and federal matters.

Salary ranges from $150,000 to $175,000 with a ~10K year-end bonus. Candidates must have construction/New York Labor Law exposure and a strong track record in civil defense and disputes.

Qualifications

• Active New York bar admission in good standing.
• 8+ years of defense litigation experience.
• At least 1 year of construction litigation and/or New York Labor Law exposure.
• Experience managing litigation matters independently from inception through resolution.
• Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, advocacy, and communication skills.
• Experience handling depositions, discovery, motions, hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse caseload of insurance defense and civil litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Develop and execute effective litigation strategies tailored to each client and case.
• Handle discovery, depositions, motion practice, hearings, mediations, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
• Represent clients in matters involving premises liability, motor vehicle accidents, professional malpractice, construction litigation, New York Labor Law, municipal law, and related defense matters.
• Analyze liability, damages, coverage, and litigation risks and provide practical recommendations to clients.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, correspondence, reports, and other litigation documents.
• Communicate directly with clients, insurers, claims professionals, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.
• Maintain strong client relationships through responsive communication and timely case reporting.
• Work collaboratively with attorneys and legal professionals while exercising sound independent judgment.
