Job summary

Carolina Legal Associates in Raleigh, NC, seeks a Litigation Associate to join our insurance defense team, handling civil defense cases for businesses across North and South Carolina. You will draft pleadings, manage discovery, and coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and expert witnesses.

The role requires a JD and NC Bar membership, 1–6 years of civil defense litigation experience, and the ability to own your caseload with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for depositions, hearings, mediations, and court appearances.
• Argue motions and get cases ready for trial.

We’re on the hunt for a Litigation Associate to join our dynamic insurance defense team! If you're ready to take on exciting cases for businesses across South Carolina and North Carolina—defending against claims like construction defect, premises liability, false arrest, and employee disputes—this is the role for you!

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Investigating the facts, meeting witnesses, and getting the scoop on site visits
• Drafting pleadings, discovery, motions, and everything in between
• Managing discovery and making sure nothing falls through the cracks
• Working closely with clients, opposing counsel, and expert witnesses
• Preparing for and rocking depositions, hearings, mediations, and court appearances
• Arguing motions and getting ready to take cases all the way to trial!

What You Bring:

• A JD and NC Bar membership (you know the drill!)
• 1-6 years of civil defense litigation experience (bonus points for trial experience!)
• The ability to own your caseload from start to finish, no supervision needed
• A talent for crafting clear, compelling arguments
