Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse portfolio of insurance defense cases through all phases of litigation.
• Develop and execute effective defense strategies tailored to client objectives.
• Conduct legal research and analyze complex legal and factual issues.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, responses, and other documents.
• Take and defend depositions and prepare witnesses for testimony.
• Represent clients in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and court proceedings.
• Evaluate claims, assess liability and exposure, and provide strategic recommendations.
• Negotiate favorable settlements when appropriate and prepare cases for trial.

What You'll Do

• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, responses, and other substantive legal documents.
• Take and defend depositions and prepare witnesses for testimony.
• Represent clients in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and court proceedings.
• Evaluate claims, assess liability and exposure, and provide strategic recommendations to clients and carriers.
• Negotiate favorable settlements when appropriate while effectively preparing cases for trial.
• Collaborate with insurance adjusters, experts, and other stakeholders to build strong defenses.
• Maintain proactive communication with clients regarding case strategy and developments.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active license and good standing with the applicable state bar.
• 5+ years of insurance defense litigation experience.
• Strong understanding of insurance law, civil litigation procedures, and defense strategies.
• Proven ability to independently manage a litigation caseload.
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Preferred Experience

• Experience handling depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial preparation.
• Background in general liability, premises liability, construction, transportation, professional liability, or other complex insurance defense matters.
• Experience working directly with insurance carriers and claims professionals.
• Demonstrated ability to develop client relationships and provide exceptional service.
