Job summary

Orionplacement in Atlanta, GA seeks an associate attorney to manage insurance defense and civil litigation from intake to resolution. You will review files, draft pleadings and discovery, and take depositions while developing litigation strategies.

Ideal candidates hold a Georgia bar license, have 1+ year of associate-level civil litigation experience, and bring strong research, drafting, and advocacy skills. Onboarding starts in-office with potential hybrid work after integration.

Responsibilities

  • Manage insurance defense and civil litigation matters from intake through resolution.
  • Draft pleadings, discovery requests/responses, motions, and other filings.
  • Take and defend depositions; develop trial strategies.
  • Prepare case evaluations addressing liability, damages, and strategy.
  • Communicate with insureds and claims representatives on case developments.
  • Appear at hearings, arbitrations, and trials; contribute to settlements.

Location

Atlanta, GA. We prefer attorneys to work in-office during the first 90 days so they can become fully integrated with our team, systems, and cases. Once settled, we are open to a hybrid and in-office schedule that works well for both the attorney and the firm.

Note

Active Georgia Bar membership and at least 1 year of associate-level litigation experience are required. We are especially interested in attorneys with 2 to 5 years of experience, a stable employment history, and a genuine interest in building a long-term career toward Partnership and eventually developing a book of business. No existing book is required.

Job Description
  • Manage insurance defense and civil litigation matters from initial case intake through resolution.
  • Review claim files, communicate with insured clients, and identify key facts and litigation issues.
  • Draft responsive pleadings, discovery requests, discovery responses, motions, and other litigation documents.
  • Take and defend depositions while developing strategic approaches to liability, damages, and witness credibility.
  • Analyze medical, employment, and other records to identify important evidence and inconsistencies.
  • Prepare detailed case evaluations addressing liability, damages, exposure, and recommended litigation strategy.
  • Communicate directly with insureds and claims representatives regarding case developments and expectations.
  • Handle motion practice, including motions to dismiss, summary judgment motions, and other pretrial matters.
  • Participate in settlement negotiations and mediations while protecting client interests and pursuing efficient resolutions.
  • Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation, exhibits, jury strategy, and case organization.
  • Appear at hearings, arbitrations, and trials while developing meaningful courtroom advocacy experience.
  • Collaborate with partners, senior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to move matters efficiently.
  • Meet a 2,000 annual billable hour expectation while maintaining accurate time entries, task lists, and case information.
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Active Georgia Bar license required.
  • 1+ year of associate-level civil litigation experience required.
  • Insurance defense litigation experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, drafting, and writing skills.
  • Experience with legal research platforms such as Westlaw.
  • Ability to independently manage deadlines, priorities, and an active litigation caseload.
  • Strong client communication, negotiation, deposition, and advocacy skills.
  • Proactive, resourceful, organized, and comfortable taking ownership of cases.
  • Interest in developing courtroom and trial experience.
  • Demonstrated employment stability and interest in building a long-term career with one firm.
