Job summary

Confidential Employer in Atlanta, GA seeks a civil litigation associate to manage insurance defense and complex litigation from intake to resolution. You will work with experienced attorneys and gain hands-on deposition, motions, mediation, and trial experience with increasing autonomy over your caseload.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• 1+ year of associate-level civil litigation experience.
• Strong legal research, drafting, and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage insurance defense and civil litigation from intake to resolution.
• Review claims, communicate with insured clients, and identify key facts.
• Draft responsive pleadings, discovery requests, discovery responses, motions, and other litigation documents.
• Take and defend depositions while developing strategies for liability and damages.
• Analyze medical, employment, and other records to identify evidence and inconsistencies.
• Prepare detailed case evaluations addressing liability, damages, exposure, and strategy.
• Communicate directly with insureds and claims representatives regarding case developments.
• Handle motions to dismiss, summary judgment motions, and other pretrial matters.
• Participate in settlement negotiations and mediations to pursue efficient resolutions.
• Prepare cases for trial, including witness prep, exhibits, and jury strategy.
• Appear at hearings, arbitrations, and trials to gain courtroom experience.
• Collaborate with partners, senior attorneys, paralegals, and staff to move matters efficiently.
• Meet a 2,000 annual billable hour expectation with accurate time entries.

• Take meaningful responsibility for complex insurance defense matters and develop hands-on deposition, motion, mediation, courtroom, and trial experience.
• Work directly with experienced attorneys while gaining increasing autonomy over your own caseload.
• Handle sophisticated matters involving catastrophic injury, wrongful death, transportation, premises liability, construction defect, subrogation, and insurance coverage.

Location:

Atlanta, GA. We prefer attorneys to work in-office during the first 90 days so they can become fully integrated with our team, systems, and cases. Once settled, we are open to a hybrid and in-office schedule that works well for both the attorney and the firm.

Note:

Active Georgia Bar membership and at least 1 year of associate-level litigation experience are required. We are especially interested in attorneys with 2 to 5 years of experience, a stable employment history, and a genuine interest in building a long-term career toward Partnership and eventually developing a book of business. No existing book is required.

• Appear at hearings, arbitrations, and trials while developing meaningful courtroom advocacy experience.
• Collaborate with partners, senior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to move matters efficiently.
• Meet a 2,000 annual billable hour expectation while maintaining accurate time entries, task lists, and case information.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
